Cuba has transformed since it first opened up to international tourism after 30 years of not allowing foreign visitors, Private accommodation renovation, and building is booming, this provides visiting tourists with a good selection of apartments and other private accommodation.

The city definitely has an exotic Latin, Caribbean flavour, with music, pouring out of every doorway and window; people come from all over the world to party and dance the night away in Havana’s plentiful clubs.
The capital city of Havana is regarded as the most vibrant and exciting in the Caribbean; it is a town of beautiful and historic buildings and is listed as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage sites.
Once outside the city there is a plethora of beautiful sights all around the country, arguably Pinar del Río is the most beautiful province on the island with diverse countryside, featuring the ‘mogotes’ which are very oddly, shaped rounded limestone mountains that are covered with lush green vegetation, this area is also known for its fascinating cave systems and underground rivers. The town of Pinar del Río dates back to the old tobacco plantations, and there are several working Cuban cigar factories that are open to the public.
In the east of the island is Camagüey, one of the most popular towns for tourism on the island, it has several attractions including the peso market as well as several stunning churches and museums. The Camagüey archipelago lies on a fertile plain, used extensively for growing sugar, nearby there is a nature reserve, with nearly 20 km of stunning snow white, sandy beaches.
The two most popular beaches in the area Cayo Coco, and Cayo Guillermo this famously was Ernest Hemmingway favourite fishing spot. Also in the area is the town of Bayamo, famous as the birthplace of Cuban revolutionary Manuel de Cépedes, the town centre is an absolute pleasure to walk through and nearby are the wonderful walking trails in the Parque Nacional del Granma.
Cuba’s climate is hot and humid year-round with November to April, being the most popular months for tourism, the food is a heady mix of Afro-Caribbean, Spanish cuisines, with lots of rides, pork, fresh vegetables and chicken, the best places to eat are usually tiny private restaurants called paladares.
Diving is very popular, both in major resort areas, and in little beachside town’s. There are also lots of boat tours out to the reefs, as well as fishing and wind surfing from the endless unspoilt, Varadero Beach alone stretches some 22 km.
Horse riding and trekking are available, both in the beach areas and inland, which can take you right into the unspoilt jungle and forest areas to see the amazing wildlife and birds. Cuba has definitely opened up to tourism and can offer an exciting and unusual getaway Caribbean destination.
