The meaning of the German name Westerwald in English is ‘western wood’ and this term was first spoken off around the year 1048 and it, at that time, was a reference to the forests that surrounded the Churches in Bad Marienberg, Emmerichenhain and also Rennerod.
Close to where the German states of Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia and also Hesse meet is a mountain range that is known as Westerwald and here the mountains contain as many as four valleys with rivers running in each one that includes the Rhine, Sieg, Dill as also Lahn.
