It is geographically very close to Playa de Las Americas but a world away in terms of atmosphere. If you want, the raucous ‘dance till dawn’ nightlife in is very close by in Las Americas, but Los Cristianos is a far more quiet, tranquil and family orientated town.

The town surrounds a sheltered bay, and like all of the Canaries enjoys a year-round mild climate and is particularly popular with Europeans during the long winter months, Los Cristianos has a lot of charm, as it is not a purpose-built resort, it has grown up from a small fishing village thirty years ago, into a mature tourist resort of today.

The scenic harbour hosts not only the toys of the wealthy, but also plenty of all local fishing boats and ferries, because the resort grew from a real fishing village the town centre has retained a lot of charm and a pleasant atmosphere, here you will find many shops offering all kinds of souvenirs and other goods, most of the old town is pedestrianised, which makes it particularly safe for families with young children.

Along the edge of the beach there is a long, wide promenade, that runs all the way around the bay and down to Las Americas, this makes it an ideal spot to a cool evening stroll, also on this promenade you will find the multitude of restaurants offering all types of food from traditional Spanish to other European, and British cuisines, as well as lots of bars, tavernas and cafes.

When this was just a fishing village the two wide beaches were made up of black volcanic sand, but now, as if by magic you can enjoy beautiful white tropical style beaches, thanks to fine quality imported sand.

The town boasts lots of water sports including scuba diving and sailing, you will also find trips on glass bottomed boats, and also you can take a one-hour trip on a ferry to the beautiful island of La Gomera, alternatively, you could try the excellent value for money, whale and dolphin spotting trips.
