Algarve is the southernmost province in Portugal, and one of the favored summer holiday destinations in the Europe, thanks to its many charming sandy beaches and year round sunshine. Some say, even though it lies on the Atlantic coast, but the sea looks like the Mediterranean. If you are an adventure enthusiast or nature lover or a water sports buff, you’ll definitely feel at home in Algarve.

The major attraction of Algarve is its beaches. The 150 km coastline in the south has numerous beaches, with the western half framed by surreal rock formations and cliffs, and the eastern half consisting of shallow, swimmer friendly shores. Which part of the coast you prefer; it is your own choice. Also, not to miss are the marinas of Lagos and Vilamoura.
Other places you should be visiting in Algarve include the charming fishing village of Albufeira, Alcoutim, on the shores of Guadiana River (which also forms the natural boundary with Spain), Aljezur on the west coast, the serene Castro Marim countryside, the historical sites in Faro, the wine country Lagoa, and the heritage sites in Silves and Tavira. In fact, there is much more in Algarve; with the aid of a tourist guide, prioritize and short list the places, and hire a vehicle to go round the places of your choice.
