If you’re looking for some of the most swingin’ Jazz in the whole world and love it so much that you wouldn’t mind spending a week immersed in it, then the Bansko International Jazz Festival just might be for you.
This year’s festival is being run from August 8th to August 13th in Bansko, Bulgaria and it takes place under the famous Mount Vihren, one of the most attractive tourist destinations within Bulgaria. It is home to the internationally acclaimed ski resort of Bansko and that resort is going to be the place where great Jazz gets performed during that week in August.
But the idea of the festival itself is two-fold; while there will definitely be some star power for people to enjoy, there will also be a crop of young and upcoming Bulgarian jazz artists on stage at various times throughout the festival.
The main goal of the festival is indeed to give aspiring musicians the chance to play alongside some of the greats from both Bulgaria and the international community and if you love Jazz to the point of wanting to hear new takes on old tunes, then you’ll doubly love it at the Bansko International Jazz Festival.
The festival itself first started in 1998 with that goal and as each successive festival has been even more rewarding, the status of the event has increased to the point where Jazz lovers the world over now want to head to Bulgaria to get a chance at seeing all of the excellence play in Bansko.
The festival not only includes staged concerts, but there are also informal jam sessions a lot of the local cafes; one of the best modes of Jazz performance.
