If one visits the north of the Bahamas one will find a most pleasant number of islands named the Abaco Islands that include the Great Abaco as well as the Little Abaco along with some smaller islands including Wood Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Lubbers Quarters Cay, and Gorda Cay.

Needless to say, these parts of the Bahamas are ideal for sailing and are thus are great tourist hot spots with the capital being Marsh Harbour. Apart from Marsh Harbour there is also Treasure Cay that is a main tourist destination that offers the best of golf courses and is also rated as having among the world’s top ten best beaches.
Some of the outdoor activities that you would like to indulge in include deep sea fishing and snorkeling while sailing and scuba diving are also very interesting. If you want to experience what a haven for boaters feels like you can head down to Hopetown, which is like a jewel in the ocean.
Sailing here into Hopetown harbor offers you a chance to view some of the most spectacular sights including the excellent candy striped lighthouse. Close by is Man-O-War Cay that has been the home to some of the best carpenters that are very adept at transforming trees into seaworthy boats, though you won’t be able to purchase liquor on this island that is often referred to as a dry island.
Another interesting fact regarding the Abaco Islands is that here lies the third largest barrier reef system of the world extending hundred miles from Walker’s Cay to twenty miles further south from Elbow Cay. And, in Fowl Cay you would find a very unique and underwater national park and there is also a place known as Pelican where there is a similar underwater park.
